Agro Amazônia: 42 Years of Achievements and a Story Written with Passion

At the heart of Brazilian agribusiness, on August 11, Agro Amazônia celebrates 42 years of a journey marked by achievements, challenges overcome, and dreams fulfilled. More than numbers, it represents decades of dedication that transformed a small agricultural input distributor into a benchmark in the sector.

Founded by Edson Keller in Cuiabá (MT), Agro Amazônia began as the well-known “Casa do Tordon,” serving local farmers with attention and proximity. Over time, it expanded its portfolio to include crops such as soybeans, corn, rice, and cotton, always cultivating a relationship of trust and understanding of the unique needs of each farm and herd.

Today, its presence spans nine Brazilian states — Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Tocantins, Maranhão, Pará, Rondônia, and Acre — with 70 branches and more than 1,200 employees committed to innovation, efficiency, and the success of every customer.

The pursuit of excellence is part of the company’s DNA. With the vision of becoming the largest and best distributor of agricultural inputs in Brazil, Agro Amazônia attracted the interest of many companies and investors throughout its history. In 2015, the strategic partnership with Sumitomo Corporation, one of the world’s leading business groups, expanded access to cutting-edge technologies, strengthened its structure, and consolidated its presence in Brazil’s main producing regions.

Keeping its focus on farmers, Agro Amazônia launched Dagma Sementes in 2021, which has already sold over 1.35 million soybean bags. It also launched Dagma Algodão, further enriching the portfolio and bringing innovation with excellence.

In 2022, the company took another decisive step: the acquisition of 100% of Nativa Agronegócios, a leading company in the Cerrado Mineiro, incorporating its special fertilizer plant, experimental station, and eight branches. This integration brought expertise in crops such as coffee, potatoes, and horticulture, further strengthening Agro Amazônia’s delivery of complete, high-quality solutions.

To value customer partnerships, the Classe AA loyalty program, launched in 2024, transforms every purchase into exclusive benefits and advantages.

Agro Amazônia’s growth goes beyond business. Initiatives such as Jovem Aprendiz, Novos Talentos AA, Start, O Agro é Delas, and Programa Incluir open doors for new generations and promote diversity. Its social commitment extends to supporting projects such as Flauta Mágica, Academia Shotokan, and Creche Vó Cristina, which strengthen communities and transform lives.

Sustainability is another essential pillar of this story. The company has structured its operations around environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles, creating a materiality matrix to identify and prioritize strategic topics, and establishing an ESG Committee to monitor goals and ensure transparency. Thus, social and environmental responsibility is not just a statement but a practice incorporated into daily operations.

Agro Amazônia’s consistent and innovative work has been widely recognized with awards and national prominence. The company achieved 2nd place in Great Place to Work® 2025 in the Midwest, 3rd place among the Best Companies to Work for in Agribusiness, and recognition of CEO Roberto Motta among the 100 Most Influential Personalities in the sector.

The future is already under construction. The new Distribution Center, inaugurated in the second half of 2024, raises logistics efficiency to a new level. And the Seed Processing Plant (IBS), in Minas Gerais, will set a new standard of excellence in processing, with the capacity to store up to 1 million seed bags per harvest, ensuring more quality, agility, and safety for farmers.

Driven by the challenge of innovation, passionate about agribusiness, and committed to sustainable development, Agro Amazônia continues to sow opportunities and reap results. For 42 years, it has not only been part of Brazilian agribusiness history — it has helped write it. And the next chapter is already set to be even greater.
